On our journey, we begin with the backstory of reputable visual artist Alteronce Gumby, and discover what color means to him, and how it has influenced his creative expression. We travel and visit global celebrations and events, with color being the center stage.

Our adventures include the HOLI Festival in India, one of the most significant examples of culture, and contact with color, celebrating the welcome of spring. We visit Mardi Gras in New Orleans, Louisiana, another vibrant celebration of the French Creole, Caribbean, African, African American, and Universal cultures. Significant colors of Green (Faith), Gold (Power), and Purple (Justice), said to have been chosen in 1892 when the Rex Parade theme "Symbolism of Colors" gave the colors their meanings.

Throughout our mission, we will interview notable figures, and visit several locations from Marrakech, Morocco to explore the wonders of the spice market and observe both the sights and smells related to Moroccan cuisine. Later on, we’ll talk with Polymath and genius Jerome Lamaar. In Australia, we’ll take a magnificent journey to an underworld experience and tangibly look at color, and all life in the Great Barrier Reef. Our final stop is a trip to Alaska for a viewing of The Northern Lights in Fairbanks.

BRONX, NEW YORK

New York City is a hub for artists and art institutions, known for its world-renowned museums, galleries, and vibrant creative scene. Its numerous galleries, studios, and exhibition spaces provide a platform for emerging and established artists alike to showcase their work.

MATHURA, INDIA

According to Hindu mythology, Holi celebrates the victory of good over evil and the arrival of spring. One of the most famous stories associated with Holi is the legend of Lord Krishna and Radha. As a young boy, Krishna, the Hindu god known for his mischievous yet endearing nature, complained to his mother about his dark complexion compared to Radha's fair skin. His mother, Yashoda, playfully suggested that he could apply color on Radha's face to make it look like his own. Taking this advice to heart, Krishna, along with his friends, began the tradition of applying colored powder (gulal) on Radha and other gopis (cowherd girls). This playful act is believed to be the origin of the colorful celebrations of Holi.

NEW ORLEANS, LOUISIANA

Mardi Gras holds profound cultural significance for the locals who celebrate it, especially in Louisiana. Brought to the region by early French settlers, the first recorded instance of Mardi Gras in Louisiana was in 1699. For locals, Mardi Gras is more than just a day of revelry; it's a cherished tradition deeply ingrained in the cultural fabric of the region.

Mardi Gras is a time for communities to come together, celebrate their heritage, and express their creativity through elaborate costumes, floats, and street performances. It's a time to indulge in the rich culinary traditions of Louisiana, from king cakes to gumbo, and to revel in the vibrant music and dance that define the region.

MARRAKECH, MOROCCO

The spice market in Marrakech, Morocco, is a sensory oasis within the bustling medina. As you step into this vibrant labyrinth, the air is filled with an intoxicating blend of aromatic spices. Colorful mounds of cumin, coriander, saffron, and other exotic treasures line the stalls, while the sweet scent of dried rose petals and orange blossoms lingers in the air. Traders enthusiastically offer their wares, and the market's array of colors and intricate displays create a visual feast for the senses. It's a place where centuries-old traditions and the magic of Moroccan cuisine come together, inviting travelers to embark on a fragrant journey through one of the world's most enchanting spice markets.

GREAT BARRIER REEF, AUSTRALIA

The underwater world of the Great Barrier Reef in Australia is a mesmerizing display of vibrant colors and biodiversity. The coral formations that make up this natural wonder come in a kaleidoscope of hues, from brilliant reds and pinks to electric blues and neon greens.
